@rahuabeauty product review.
Is it worth the hype? As a sceptic of organisations making bold claims and someone with curly who has tried numerous products which target curly hair, I was hesitant to try @rahuabeauty especially as the products come with a hefty price tag. I like to purchase products with natural organic ingredients that support both my hair, skin and health along with respecting the planet.
As someone who is mixed race with naturally curly hair, I struggle to find products that work well to support my dry fine thirsty hair. Over the years I have so many half used bottles trying to find a good product. Then when I do, I use it for a while before it’s discontinued and I have to start the journey all over again. European hair products are often not hydrating enough and Afro Caribbean hair products too heavy, and you can forget anything with serum, it’s horrendous on my hair.
So when I stumbled across @rahuabeauty I thought this looks great! Natural ingredients and the cleanest list of ingredients I’ve seen in a long time. Supporting indigenous Amazonian communities and the rainforest and going above and beyond what other charitable organisations offer. I liked the sound of it but then I saw the price tag…around £34 per product. I considered it for a while, did someone research but couldn’t see any other product that had an ingredient list as pure and also supported people and planet. So, I thought I’d give it a try as if it made a difference to my hair, indigenous communities and the planet then it would be worth prioritising spending on this.
I took the quiz on their website and was advised to go with the vVoluminous shampoo and conditioner and the Control Cream Curl Styler. I also liked the sound of the hydrating range as my hair is thirsty, so I decided to buy mini trial version of both shampoo and conditioner sets, which is a really handy option before spending on products you are not sure about. The curl cream only came in a regular size so I bought that.
I have to say I have been totally impressed with the products. They are amazing! The quiz was also spot on. I love the smell of the hydrating range - it’s so dreamy! It works well on my hair but the Voluminous shampoo and conditioner are perfect for my hair, which is what the quiz suggested. The Voluminous shampoo lathers and the hydrating one doesn’t. I prefer the feeling of lather. My scalp has been dry but with build up. Nothing seems to clean it properly. The Voluminous shampoo absolutely cleans my scalp while not drying my hair.
The Curl Control Cream is amazing! I only need a tiny amount. It is so hydrating for my hair and holds my curls. So even though the price point is higher than some products the benefits outweigh the costs.
It’s obvious that quality natural ingredients should cost more than synthetic chemical ingredients. Even other organic ranges do not have as good an ingredient list than this. Plus some of the income is being injected into preserving the Amazonia rainforests and communities. So I would conclude that I’m happy paying the higher price point for products that benefit not just my hair but indigenous communities and the planet. It’s 5 stars for @rahua from me. Thank you for helping my hair and the planet.
Of course I don’t know the ins and outs of their business and lifestyle and some of the products are packaged in plastic (some are glass). But that is a wider challenge for all companies and products and hopefully something that will change over time. From what I can see it is a wonderful organisation with great products.
